Girl Scout Troop 50320 is
a Cadette troop of McPherson area 6th and 7th. Graders. In Fall of 2008 we visited the National Tallgrass
Prairie Preserve during their Wildflower Weekend and earned a Junior Ranger
Patch and worked on the Wildlife Interest Project. We also did water testing in McPherson with
DeEtte Huffman. Later in the Fall, we
visited Sunnyside Farm’s Pumpkin Patch and a Switchgrass Maze. To earn the Horse Sense Interest Project we spent a
day with Linda Helmer, a horse therapist.
At Christmas we purchased gifts for a foster girl
through St. Francis Academy. We earned the Fashion Design Interest Project by
planning & executing a fashion show and visiting with the owner of Guys & Gals
Boutique in McPherson. Our last Interest Project was Pets. We visited with Becky Dillon at Maple
Street Vet Clinic and each sewed a dog bed to donate to the McPherson Animal
Shelter. After selling nuts in the fall and cookies in the
spring, we used our troop money to got to Jumping Joe’s in Salina where we
rode go-karts, played miniature golf and laser tag. We hope to do some camping in October and many other

In late Winter we spent the night at the Underground
Salt Museum, keeping the helmet on at all times except when we were
sleeping. |
